What do we see?
In 2018 the Foundation Innovation & Work conducted a business survey of various companies in Flanders. The main results are summarised in the table below. Most notably, when purchasing products almost 60% of the companies take into account the extent to which those products can be repaired or recycled. Slightly less than half also take this into account when designing or producing their own products.
What’s the aim?
There are currently no specific targets for the implementation of circular practices in the day-to-day operations of companies. Nevertheless, the expectation is that the number of companies adopting these practices and making the transition to a circular economy will continue to grow.
What does this indicator measure?
This indicator provides insight into the extent to which Flemish companies are working on circular strategies. This data currently comes from the 2018 business survey carried out by the Foundation Innovation & Work (SERV – Social and Economic Council of Flanders). In the future, OVAM will instead gather the data via the CE Self Assessment tool, which will be applied to a representative group of Flemish companies.
